The Haldi & Mehndi
November 10th, 12PM-3PM
Location: The Peacock Alley at the Waldorf Astoria The Palm Dubai
What is a Haldi Event?
The haldi is a prewedding ritual common at traditional Indian weddings. It is celebrated on the wedding day or one day prior to the wedding day. Family, relatives and friends come together on this auspicious occasion to apply turmeric paste (haldi) on the bride and groom's face and body. Some families also smear chandan (sandalwood powder) with rose water on the bride's face and hands and shower flowers on the couples.
What is a Mehndi Event?
One of the most common and important prewedding events is the mehndi party. It's here that the couple is joined by their loved ones to get henna (or mehndi designs) applied to their hands before the wedding day. Live music and dancing almost always accompany the tattooing process, resulting in a celebration that honors love and togetherness.
